Kiwicon 7: Time to pull out the moderator rods
Posted July 17, 2013 1:59 p.m.Yes, we start the oddessy once again. Kiwicon 7 is on! The venue is booked for the for 9-10th November 2013 - the horde again returns to the classical grace of the Wellington Opera House. Pricing is to be confirmed, but will be within the same range as last year. A call for papers (and a new website!) should happen soon, but don't feel you have to wait till then to start thinking about what you're gonna submit. As with last year, there will be some stuff happening on the Friday before, if you're dithering about taking Friday and Monday off work to hang out, or hang over respectively.
Unlike DEFCON, feds, spooks, PRISM lawyers, shills, narks and snitches are all welcome to Kiwicon; while they may be jerks, they subsidise your tickets :)
See you too soon, Kiwicon Chums!

Kiwicon Day Zero
Posted Nov. 16, 2012 11:57 a.m.ITS CON TIME! See you guys in a few hours at Meow.
Looks like things are already falling apart; XSS in the NZ Herald, planes delayed, airport bus onboard wifi is down (who does that? who hacks a BUS?) and reports of EFTPOS outages in Wellington!!11! OMG CYBERPOCAPLYPSE!
We're activating reston 5 and switching to comms channel S; follow @kiwicon on twitter for realtime madness; we can't get to the kiwicon.org CMS admin interface from untrusted nets, and it looks like they're all untrusted now.
Game on, kiwiconsters!
Guidance Is Internal
Posted Nov. 14, 2012 5:27 p.m.Well, the con's happening. We didn't take your money and abscond to the caribbean. Time to put your phone into flight mode, and steel yourself for Kiwicon 6.
We've shut down the ordering system, as the data has been batched off into the point-of-sale system. Thanks for all the cash!
See you at the con, hacker-chums!
Kiwicon is ... Next Week!?
Posted Nov. 5, 2012 10:18 p.m.Holy hell, there's a lot to do here at Kiwicon HQ.
Some updates to the Saturday lineup - Alex Tilley has had to pull out due to Fed commitments, but instead, we have an amazing chat-show worthy lineup; "Three Dudes With Ponytails Talk About Security", featuring the eponymous dudes: Jon Callas, Nicko van Someren and our very own Peter Gutmann. If you're into crypto, ponies, or tails, this talk's for you.
Later on the Saturday night, we'll be enjoying a drink or two, and, in a new twist for Kiwicon, perhaps you'll join us at a movie? We're screening indie hacker flick "Reboot" - check out the trailer on www.rebootfilm.com!
